Social Studies today

March 29, 2007

In social studies we learned alot about Chinas government.   China has a comunist government which means China has only one party to vote for. For example, you wanted to start a trend in a different government and you wanted a different party other than communist you would be thrown in jail before anyone would be able to vote for you. The leaders of China have all the property and decide what to do with everything. The people really have no choice in what’s happening around China. It’s kinda like being in a dictatorship because once a leader gets in to office they’re never getting back out.

In the 1950-1970’s  Chinas government over the people and every building was falling apart.  In the 1970’s the government alowed free interprize in China.  Free enterprise is making more supplies and using the same amount of people in the US but paying the people less in China. For example, say Sue lived in China and Jordan lived in the US and they both had the same amount of people in their factories but Sue in China wasn’t paying the Chinese people the same amount that Jordan had to pay the US people in his business Sue would make more money because she did not have to pay her factory workers as much as Jordan did in the US. Now Sue is over in China making good money and Jordan over in the US is getting kind of jelous so Jordan moves over to China to also take part of free enterprise.

science class today 2

March 29, 2007

In science class today we drew what each gland efected in the human body.In case you want to refresh your memory on the five major glands I’ve made a sharp study guide for you to reveiw over or study off of.

                                     Pituitary Gland

The Pituitary gland is the master gland. In othor words the Pituitary gland controlls all glands. The Pituitary gland also gives off the Hormone for the Human body groth or HGH for short. The Pituitary Gland is the size of a marble, . .pretty small!!!

                                          Pancreas

The pancreas is very important because it makes enzimes to help break down food in the stomach then turn the food into chime. Anyway the Pancreas also produces insulin wich alows the glucose to move from the blood on to the hungry cells.

                                         Adrenal Glands

The Adrenal Glands make a hormone called Adrenaline. This is called a fight or flight hormone. Adrenaline makes your heart beat faster. The reason why your heart beats faster is because the adrenaline releases more food stored in your liver, this often causes more sweating in your sweat glands.

                                               Parathyroid

The four parathyroids are behind the thyroid and their purpose helps you keep the right ph in your blood. They are about the size of a pea and the glands release a horomone that helps control the amount of calcium in your blood. Calcium is really important for clotting blood.  Without it you would be bleeding all the time if you got a scratch. If the parathyroids make too much calcium the bones may become very fragile and easy to break. You may be thinking that huh? I thought too much calcium is a good thing? Well you are wrong!

                                                Thyroid

The thyroid has a horomone called thyroxine. The thyroxine controls your bodies chemical reactions that happen inside your body, in other words metabolism. The thyroid however is not able to work properly if it does not have an element called iodine. If you do not have iodine the thyroid will get larger and larger.  A thyroid that has grown in size is called a goider. Good thing they are not so common today!
